श्रीभगवानुवाच । इमं विवस्वते योगं प्रोक्तवानहमव्ययम् । विवस्वान्मनवे प्राह मनुरिक्ष्वाकवेऽब्रवीत् ॥
Translation
I taught this imperishable teaching to the sun god; the sun god taught it to Manu; Manu taught it to Ikshvaku.
Explanation
Before explaining anything new, Krishna first situates the teaching within a long chain of transmission — student becoming teacher, generation after generation. It's a reminder that most durable wisdom doesn't arrive fully formed in a single moment; it's carried forward, imperfectly but persistently, through a long relay of people passing it on.
