Chapter 11, Verse 54

भक्त्या त्वनन्यया शक्य अहमेवंविधोऽर्जुन । ज्ञातुं द्रष्टुं च तत्त्वेन प्रवेष्टुं च परन्तप ॥

Translation

Only through single-minded devotion can I truly be known, seen, and entered into, in this way, Arjuna.

Explanation

The claim here is that certain kinds of knowing — of another person, of a deeper truth — aren't available through analysis alone; they require a kind of wholehearted attention closer to devotion than to study. That's worth remembering the next time you're trying to intellectually solve your way into understanding something that actually needs more presence than analysis.

Reflect

Is there something you're trying to understand through analysis that might actually need more presence and less thinking?
