Chapter 2, Verse 12

न त्वेवाहं जातु नासं न त्वं नेमे जनाधिपाः । न चैव न भविष्यामः सर्वे वयमतः परम् ॥

Translation

There was never a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor any of these kings — and none of us will ever cease to exist in the future.

Explanation

This is a bold metaphysical claim to make in the middle of a personal crisis, and that's exactly the point — Krishna is trying to widen Arjuna's frame from the immediate battlefield to something much larger than any single lifetime. Whether or not you take the metaphysics literally, the underlying move — stepping back from an urgent moment to a much longer view — is a genuinely useful practice on its own.
