Chapter 4, Verse 38

न हि ज्ञानेन सदृशं पवित्रमिह विद्यते । तत्स्वयं योगसंसिद्धः कालेनात्मनि विन्दति ॥

Translation

There is nothing in this world as purifying as knowledge. One who is perfected through practice finds it, in time, within themselves.

Explanation

The verse pairs a bold claim — nothing purifies quite like real understanding — with a modest timeline: 'in time.' It doesn't promise instant insight, just that sustained practice eventually surfaces clarity that wasn't available at the start.

Reflect

What understanding has slowly become clear to you only after sustained practice, not right away?
