मात्रास्पर्शास्तु कौन्तेय शीतोष्णसुखदुःखदाः । आगमापायिनोऽनित्यास्तांस्तितिक्षस्व भारत ॥
Translation
The contact of the senses with the world brings heat and cold, pleasure and pain. These come and go, and are not permanent — learn to endure them.
Explanation
This isn't a call to become numb. It's a much smaller, more practical instruction: notice that most sensations, even uncomfortable ones, have a lifespan, and that lifespan is usually shorter than our reaction to them suggests. Learning to sit through a passing discomfort, rather than fighting it or catastrophizing it, is a genuinely trainable skill.
Reflect
What discomfort today might have already passed if you'd simply let it run its course?
